Create and manage widgets

Create a Product List Widget, save it, switch it on or off, copy its ID, duplicate it or delete it.

Create a widget

In the Oxify app, open Product List Widgets and click Create widget.

On the Settings tab, change Internal name (it starts as "Product list"). Only you see it.

Under Product Source, choose where the products come from. See Product sources.

Edit the text and the Design tab if you want. The Preview on the right updates as you go. It uses sample products.

Click Save. The toast says "Product List Widget saved successfully".

A new widget starts Active and uses the Grid Slider layout with the Related source. Saving sends it to your storefront. There is no separate publish step. Then place it.

What the editor has

  • Settings, Design and Analytics tabs. Analytics appears after the first save.
  • A Status button in the title bar. Choose Active or Inactive, then click Save.
  • Copy Widget ID and Delete, after the first save.
  • A Save and Discard bar. Discard goes back to the last saved version.

Save checks

Saving is blocked, with the toast "Please fix the errors before saving", when:

  • The name is empty. The banner says "Give this widget an internal name."
  • Manual is chosen but the All Markets list has no products or collection.

If Shopify can't take the update, you see "Your change was saved, but the storefront could not be updated." Try again.

Manage widgets from the list

Each row has:

  • A Status switch. It works immediately, with no Save. The toast says "Widget activated" or "Widget deactivated".
  • The widget name (click to edit), an Active or Inactive badge and its product source.
  • Icon buttons: copy the Widget ID, edit, duplicate and delete.

Duplicate. Click the duplicate icon, then Duplicate. The copy is named after the original plus "(COPY)" and starts Inactive.

Delete. Click the trash icon, then Delete. It can't be undone. Cart drawer placements of that widget stay in the Cart Editor with a Not on storefront badge. Theme blocks using its ID show nothing.

Active and Inactive

Only Active widgets are sent to your storefront. An Inactive widget disappears from theme blocks and from the cart drawer.

If you have many Active widgets with long manual lists or custom templates, a banner can appear: Approaching the size limit, or Please contact the support team. It shows a percentage of the limit used. Switch off widgets you don't use, or shorten manual lists.
