Create an offer and make it Live

Pick a template, edit and save it, then switch it Live. Also: pause, duplicate, reorder, delete and translate offers.

Create an offer from a template

In the Oxify app, open Checkout Offers (Beta) and click Create offer. You can also click Create offer in the Setup guide, or in the empty state that says Add your first checkout offer.

The Create checkout offer page opens with the question "What do you want to add to checkout?". Use the chips All templates, Upselling, Rewards, Build trust and Ask buyers something to narrow the list.

Find the card you want. Each card shows a picture and the place in checkout where the offer starts. If a card has "Good for" chips, pick one. For example, Checkbox upsell offers Shipping protection, Gift wrap, Warranty and Priority handling.

Click Use template. Oxify creates a Draft ("Draft created") with sample text and default settings, then opens it in the editor. Templates that sell a product (add-ons, bundles, upgrades, item protection, free gifts) ask you to choose the products yourself.

Prefer a blank page? Scroll to Start from scratch and click a tile: Product upsell, Add-on, Bundle, Upgrade, Item protection, Edit items, Free gift, Progress bar, Trust badges, Testimonials, Message, Gift note or Quick question.

The Free-shipping bar links to the free-shipping tier of your cart rewards when you have one. If you don't, it starts with My own goal instead (75 in your store currency). See Progress bar and free gift.

Templates carry sample wording

Messages, badges, testimonials and the other templates start with sample text, such as "30-day returns" or two sample testimonials. Change every word to match your store's real policies and customers before you make the offer Live. See Messages, trust badges and questions.

Wherever the offer starts, you can change the place in its Where it shows step. Each place needs its own Oxify block in Shopify's checkout editor. See Add Oxify's blocks in the checkout editor.

Edit the offer

The editor lists the offer's steps on the left and a Preview on the right. Switch the preview between Desktop and Mobile. Click a step's title to open it; only one step is open at a time. The steps depend on the offer type:

Offer typeSteps
MessageOffer, Where it shows, Who sees it
Trust badgesBadges, Where it shows, Who sees it
TestimonialsTestimonials, Where it shows, Who sees it
Gift noteNotes, Where it shows, Who sees it

Every offer starts with a Name (only you see this), up to 60 characters. The last two steps work the same for every offer: Where it shows is covered in Add Oxify's blocks in the checkout editor and Place an offer in a block you choose, and Who sees it in Choose who sees an offer.

The preview's dashed outline shows where your offer appears. Real checkout uses your store's own fonts and colours.

Save your changes

  • When you change something, a bar appears at the top with Save and Discard. Click Save.
  • If something is missing or too long, the fields are highlighted and a banner says Please fix these before saving and lists what to fix.
  • If you leave the page with unsaved changes, Oxify asks Leave without saving? Click Stay to keep editing or Leave to drop the changes.
  • If the offer was saved from another tab, a banner says This offer was changed in another tab. Reload latest version replaces your unsaved changes with the saved version.

Make an offer Live

Open Checkout Offers (Beta). Each offer has a switch in the Status column. Turn it on and the toast says "Offer is live".

Or open the offer, turn on the switch next to its name (Live in checkout), then click Save. The toast says "Offer is live in checkout".

The offer's badge reads Draft, Live or Paused. A Live offer shows in checkout right away, but only where you have added the matching Oxify block.

An offer can be held back for these reasons:

  • Your store isn't on Plus or a development store. See Requirements and what Beta means.
  • Something is missing. From the list, the toast says "Couldn't change the status: Open the offer and fix it before going live." In the editor, the fields are highlighted.
  • The offer has a discount that isn't ready. The editor saves the offer but keeps it off with "Saved, but not live yet: the discount needs attention." Fix it in the Discount step. See Discounts on offers.
  • A progress bar linked to cart rewards has no reward to track. It stays off until the reward exists. See Progress bar and free gift.

A free gift can be Live and still hidden from checkout until the gift guard is on. See Progress bar and free gift.

Pause, duplicate, reorder or delete

On the Checkout Offers (Beta) page:

  • Pause. Turn the offer's switch off. It is marked Paused and disappears from checkout, and nothing is deleted. In the editor, switching it off and saving sets it back to Draft instead. To hide every offer at once, pause each Live offer, or remove the Oxify blocks in Shopify's checkout editor.
  • Duplicate. Open the ... menu in the offer's row and click Duplicate. Oxify creates a Draft named after the original plus "(copy)", with the same content, audience, discount and place. A copy does not keep an offer group or an A/B test.
  • Reorder. In the same menu, Move up and Move down appear when two or more offers share a place (or the same offer group). Offers with a Who sees it condition always come before offers shown to everyone, then your order applies. The toast says "Order saved".
  • Delete. Click the trash icon, then Delete offer in the Delete offer? window. The offer disappears from checkout straight away and can't be brought back. If it has an A/B test, the variants go with it.

Translate an offer's text

Buyers see an offer in their checkout language when you add a translation.

Open the offer. Next to a buyer-facing text field that already has text, click Add translations. The link reads Translations (2) once that field has two translations.

In the Translations window, click Add language, pick a Language and type the text. Keep tokens such as {product} exactly as they are. Each translation can be up to 500 characters.

Click Done, then Save.

Buyers in a language with no translation see the default text. The Language list holds the languages published in your Shopify store other than your main one. If your store has only one published language, the window asks you to add languages in Shopify under Settings, then Languages. A gift note's title and a quick question's choices show translated to buyers but are saved on the order in your default language. Words built into the offers, such as Added, Remove and Undo, come translated in 20 languages besides English.
