Offers — product selection strategy

Pick how each offer slot decides which product to upsell.

Each offer in a post-purchase funnel picks the product to upsell using one of four strategies.

Choose a strategy

  1. In the Oxify app, open Post Purchase and open a funnel.
  2. On the Upsells tab, find an empty slot (Upsell 1, Upsell 2, Upsell 3, Downsell 1 or Downsell 2) and click Create offer.
  3. Pick a strategy: Specific products, Automatic upsell, Most expensive item in cart or Least expensive item in cart. Copy existing offer copies an offer you have already built instead.

To change the strategy of an existing offer, delete it with the trash icon on its card and create it again.

Specific products

Pick exact products with Shopify's product picker. You can select several, but only the first one is shown to the customer. Maximum control — you decide exactly what every buyer sees.

Oxify takes the most expensive item in the customer's order (by line total) and asks Shopify for related products. It shows the first product Shopify returns.

Caveat: If Shopify returns no recommendation, that offer is skipped. The funnel then starts, or continues, at the next upsell slot that has an offer. If no slot in the funnel can show an offer, the customer sees no post-purchase offer for that order. To keep a safety net, put an offer that uses Specific products in the next upsell slot. See Troubleshooting: AI Recommended returns nothing.

Most expensive item in cart

Offers another of the highest-value line in the customer's original order (highest line total): the same product and variant they just bought. Useful for "you love it — grab another" framing.

Least expensive item in cart

Offers another of the lowest-value line in the original order. Useful for "add one more of a small item" patterns.

Recommendation

Start with Specific products. Once you have data, test Automatic upsell on a funnel limited with the Random sample trigger to compare conversion.
