Cart Editor overview
How to open the Cart Editor, what each section in its left menu does, how the preview works, and how Save and Discard work.
The Cart Editor is where you design the cart drawer and turn its features on or off. It is not in Oxify's left menu. It opens from Home.
Open the Cart Editor
In the Oxify app, open Home. You need an active plan; until then Oxify opens Plans.
On the Cart Drawer card, click Manage Cart Drawer. The button reads Set up Cart Drawer while the app embed is still off. Both open the same editor. See Enable the app embed in your theme.
A full-screen window titled Cart Editor opens after a moment. It always opens on Design. Close it to go back to Home.
If the app embed is off, a banner at the top of the left column reads Oxify Cart Drawer is inactive. Click Activate to open your theme editor, turn the embed on and save there.
The layout
- Left column. A card titled Cart Editor Settings lists the sections. Click one to open its settings next to the menu.
- Settings. The controls for the selected section.
- Preview. The cart drawer, pinned to the right. It updates as you change settings.
Sections in the left menu
At the very top of the menu, above Design, is Cart Templates. It opens the Templates library, where each template has Preview and Apply. See Cart templates and overall layout.
Thirteen sections start with an On/Off card at the top. The card shows an On or Off badge and an Enable or Disable button. In the menu, those sections show an eye icon: open when the section is on, crossed out when it is off. A section that is Off does not appear in the cart. The other five sections have no On/Off card.
Settings holds four cards: Cart Settings, Other Settings, Discount Settings and Upsell Product Exclusions.
- Slide direction, width and open-on-add behavior: Cart behavior settings and Buttons and checkout area.
- Terms & Conditions: Require Terms & Conditions before checkout.
- Custom query selectors: Custom theme selectors.
- Discount Settings: Discount settings.
- Upsell Product Exclusions: Upsell product exclusions.
Cart Items, Rewards, Upsells and Upsells with Discount also have a View Templates button that changes just that section's style.
Custom template editors only appear in the editor after you turn on Enable custom template editors in Oxify's own Settings. See Custom templates.
Add a Module
Under Add a Module, click + Add Another Widget. The Add another widget window lists four options:
| Option | Status |
|---|---|
| Upsell | Available. Click Add to create another upsell section with its own settings. |
| Announcement bar | Coming soon |
| Trust badges | Coming soon |
| Express checkout | Coming soon |
Each added upsell is named Upsells 2, Upsells 3 and so on, and appears under Add a Module with an eye icon and a trash icon. The trash icon asks Delete upsell module? and then removes it with its settings. Nothing is final until you save.
Product Lists
Under Product Lists, click + Add Product List to place one of your Product List Widgets in the cart.
- In Select widget, pick a widget. Inactive widgets are marked (Inactive). If you have none, the window offers a Create one link.
- Choose a Position: Above cart items, After cart items (the default) or Below cart items.
- Click Add.
In the list, the eye icon hides or shows a placement and the trash icon removes it. Clicking the name opens the widget in a new tab. The badge Not on storefront means the widget no longer exists; Inactive means it is switched off. Buyers do not see those lists until the widget is active and saved. See Product List Widgets.
The preview
The preview uses real products from your store: your newest active products, skipping ones that look like shipping protection or warranties. The first becomes the cart item and the others become sample upsell products. If your store has no usable products, built-in sample products are shown instead.
- Click the X in the preview's header to collapse it. Click the round arrow button to open it again. On narrow windows the preview fills the screen, so collapse it to reach the settings.
- Selecting Empty Cart shows an empty cart.
- Review ratings, the GoodAPI badge and the Express Checkout buttons do not appear in the preview. Check them on your storefront.
Save and Discard
Nothing changes on your storefront until you save. Enabling, disabling or editing only changes your draft.
- When you have unsaved changes, a bar appears at the top with Save and Discard.
- Save writes your settings to your store, so there is no separate publish step. Reload your storefront to see them. Oxify also updates the Shopify discount behind rewards, volume discounts and discounted upsells. A card shows Saving your settings... and then Your settings have been saved! with a Preview button that opens your storefront.
- If a field is empty or has an invalid color, a red banner reads There are some errors in the form. Fix the fields and save again.
- If Shopify refuses the discount, nothing is saved. A red banner explains why, for example We couldn't generate your discount code or Your discount settings are too large to save.
- Discard asks You have unsaved changes. Discard Changes goes back to your last saved settings. Continue Editing keeps your edits.
