Add Oxify's blocks in the checkout editor

Add the Oxify block for each place in checkout, once, in Shopify's checkout editor.

Offers reach your checkout through Oxify's blocks. Each place in checkout has its own block, and Shopify only shows a place's offers after you add that place's block. You add each block once; it keeps working for every offer that uses that place.

Add a block

In the Oxify app, open Checkout Offers (Beta) and expand the Setup guide step Add Oxify's blocks in Shopify's checkout editor. It lists the blocks your Live offers still need.

Click Open checkout editor. Shopify's checkout editor opens in a new tab on the Apps panel.

Press + next to the Oxify block for the place your offers use (see the table below). Shopify puts it in that place by itself.

Click Save in Shopify's checkout editor.

Back in Oxify, the Placement column of your offers shows Added and the setup step ticks itself. If it doesn't, click Check again. The page also re-checks whenever you come back to its tab.

You'll find the same Open checkout editor button in an offer's Where it shows step and in the ... menu of an offer that is marked Not added.

For Below the order summary, add Oxify offers. That is the block the app looks for when it marks the place Added.

Until a place's block is added, buyers don't see that place's offers, even when the offer is Live. The offer's Where it shows step then says "This spot isn't added in Shopify's checkout editor yet", and its Placement badge reads Not added. Removing a block from the checkout editor hides that place's offers again; nothing in Oxify is deleted.

Want to put an offer somewhere that isn't in this table? Use an offer group instead. See Place an offer in a block you choose.

What you see in the checkout editor

In Shopify's checkout editor, a block shows your Live offers for that place, or a sample line when there are none ("Your Live offers for this spot appear here."). Under each item, the sample reads "Oxify: item controls appear here when an Edit items offer is Live." The editor ignores Who sees it conditions, so it can show offers that a buyer might not see. In real checkout, only offers that match the buyer show.

Choose the place for an offer

Open the offer, then open Where it shows.

  • For most offer types you pick the place from a list. Below the order summary is marked recommended.
  • Edit items and Item protection always show Under each item. It is the only place they can use, and every other offer type can use any place except that one.
  • A place that behaves differently on phones, or in some checkouts, comes with a note in the step. The notes match the Good to know column above.

Order and limit in one place

Several offers can share a place. They show in this order: offers that have a Who sees it condition first, then the rest, each group in the order you set.

To set the order, open the ... menu in an offer's row on the Checkout Offers (Beta) page and click Move up or Move down. The menu shows them when two or more offers share the place.

To show only some of them, open an offer's Where it shows step and set How many offers show in this spot. Choose No limit or At most 1 to 10. The setting applies to every offer in that place and saves with the offer. Only offers that actually have something to show count toward the limit: an upsell with no products left doesn't use up a slot. Offers in an offer group have no limit.
