Requirements and what Beta means
What your store needs before an offer can go Live, and what the Beta label does and doesn't change.
What you need
- A Shopify Plus store, or a development store. The first step of the Setup guide reads Your store can use checkout offers: "Checkout offers work on Shopify Plus and on development stores."
- An active Oxify plan. Like the other modules, Checkout Offers (Beta) appears in the Oxify menu once your plan is active.
- Access to Shopify's checkout editor. Offers only show where you have added Oxify's blocks there. See Add Oxify's blocks in the checkout editor.
If your store isn't on Plus yet
On any other plan you can create, edit, preview and save offers. What you can't do is make one Live. If you try, Oxify refuses with this message: "Checkout offers need Shopify Plus. You can build and preview offers; they go live once the store is on Plus."
The Checkout offers page also shows a banner, Checkout offers need Shopify Plus, with your current plan and a link, Use Thank-you page offers instead. That link opens the Thank You & Order Status module, which is separate from Checkout Offers. See What the Thank-You extensions do.
Oxify reads your Shopify plan at most once every 24 hours. If you have just upgraded to Plus, the banner can stay for up to a day before the page notices.
Development stores count as allowed, so you can test Live offers there.
What Beta means
- The Beta label shows in three places: the menu item Checkout Offers (Beta), a Beta badge next to the page title, and a Beta badge next to the offer name in the editor.
- It is a label, not a setting. There is no Beta switch to turn on, and nothing else in the app changes because of it.
- Because the module is in Beta, screens and options can still change. These pages describe how it works today.
Where offers can't show
- In checkouts where Shopify doesn't let apps add items, for example some draft-order or express checkouts. Product offers (upsells, add-ons, bundles, upgrades, item protection and free gifts) hide themselves there. Messages, trust badges, testimonials, gift notes, questions and the progress bar still show.
- Until the block is added. An offer that is Live still doesn't show until the Oxify block for its place is in your checkout. The offer's Where it shows step and the Placement column tell you when it isn't.
