Item protection and Edit items

Add a protection checkbox, or let buyers change size, quantity or subscribe, right under each item in checkout.

Item protection and Edit items show under each item in the order summary. They always use the place Under each item, so you need the Oxify ยท Under each item block in Shopify's checkout editor (see Add Oxify's blocks in the checkout editor). On phones the order summary starts collapsed, so buyers see these controls after opening it.

They can't be placed in an offer group, and neither can be A/B tested.

Item protection

A checkbox under each eligible item adds a protection plan nested under that item. Its price depends on the item's price, through price tiers.

Open Checkout Offers (Beta) โ†’ Create offer. Under Upselling, pick Item protection and click Use template. Or choose Start from scratch โ†’ Item protection.

In the Protection step, under Protection product, click Choose product. In Shopify's product picker, choose the protection product and tick the variants to use. Each variant becomes one price tier. Oxify keeps at most 5 tiers; if the product has more variants, it keeps the 5 cheapest and tells you.

Under Price tiers, each tier row has a box for the item price that tier covers up to (the limit itself is not included), in your store currency, and shows the range it covers. Each limit must be higher than the one before. Leave the last box empty (it says "No limit") to cover every higher price. An item whose price no tier covers gets no checkbox.

Under Which items get the checkbox, choose Every item, Chosen products (up to 50) or Items from chosen collections (up to 10 collections; Oxify checks up to 500 products per collection, refreshed every time you save and once a day).

Write the Checkbox label (up to 80 characters). It starts as "Add {product} ยท {price}". {product} is the protection name and {price} is the tier's price for that item, in the buyer's currency, multiplied by the quantity when there is more than one. Add an optional Short description of up to 150 characters.

Set the Discount (it starts as No discount) and Who sees it, click Save, then turn the offer on.

How it works for buyers:

  • The checkbox starts unticked.
  • Ticking adds the plan under its item, one per unit. Shopify removes it with the item.
  • The tier comes from the item's unit price before discounts.
  • Only the buyer's own items get the checkbox. Free gifts, bundles and items added from other offers never do.

Edit items

Edit items puts controls under each item so buyers can change it without leaving checkout.

Open Checkout Offers (Beta) โ†’ Create offer. Under Upselling, pick Edit items in checkout and click Use template. Or choose Start from scratch โ†’ Edit items.

In the What buyers can change step, tick what buyers may do:

  • Switch to subscription: only on products with subscription plans. Buyers can also change how often it's delivered, or go back to one-time. Edit the Button text (up to 40 characters); {discount} shows the plan's saving, such as 10%, and without a saving the button says Subscribe. It starts as "Subscribe & save {discount}".
  • Change variant (size, colourโ€ฆ): lists the variants in stock.
  • Change quantity.
  • Remove items our offers added: items the buyer added themselves can't be removed here.

If you chose subscription, variant or quantity, set the Link text (up to 40 characters, "Change" by default). It opens a small window with the choices above.

In the Which items step, choose Every item, Chosen products (up to 50) or Items from chosen collections (up to 10 collections; Oxify checks up to 500 products per collection).

Set Who sees it, click Save, then turn the offer on.

The template starts with the subscription switch only, on every item. Changes keep any offer discount, and free gifts and bundle items never get these controls.

In checkout, the link you named opens a window where buyers pick a variant, a quantity, one-time or subscription, and a delivery option, then click Save. Subscribe & save switches an item to a plan in one tap. A Remove link shows on items your offers added.

When more than one Edit items offer matches an item, the first in your order on the Checkout Offers (Beta) page is used.
