Countdown behavior

Fixed minutes

Give each visitor their own countdown that starts when they arrive.

Fixed minutes starts a countdown from a set number of minutes for each visitor, beginning when they land on the page. It's the only countdown type that can repeat.

Set it up

Open the timer and go to the Content tab.

Under Timer Type, select Fixed minutes.

Enter the number of minutes. The minimum is 1.

Set Once Timer Ends.

Click Save.

The help text describes it precisely: The timer will count down from the current time to the end of the fixed minutes.

How it behaves

Each visitor gets their own countdown, so two people on the page at the same time can see different remaining times. This is the difference from Countdown to a date, where the deadline is shared.

Repeat Countdown

Fixed minutes is the only countdown type where Repeat Countdown works as an end action. When the countdown hits zero it starts over from the full duration.

On a date-based or recurring timer, the remaining time comes from configured dates rather than from when the visitor arrived, so there's nothing to restart — which is why the option isn't offered there.

See Once the timer ends.

Good uses

  • This price is held for you for 20 minutes
  • Your cart is reserved for 15 minutes
  • Offer expires in: on a product page

Be honest about it

A repeating fixed-minute timer that never actually expires is manufactured urgency. If a customer notices it reset, you've traded a sale for their trust. Use it where the deadline reflects something real — held stock, a reserved cart, a session price.

Tip

Under 5 minutes tends to feel like pressure rather than helpfulness, and it gives a customer no time to actually decide. 15–30 minutes reads as reasonable.
