Countdown to a date
Count down to a fixed end date and time — the same deadline for every visitor.
Countdown to a date ends at one specific moment. Every visitor sees the same remaining time, which makes it the honest choice for a real deadline.
Set it up
Open the timer and go to the Content tab.
Under Timer Type, select Countdown to a date.
Set Timer Starts to Right Now or Scheduled to start later.
If you chose to schedule it, set Starts At.
Set Ends At — the date and time the countdown reaches zero.
Set Once Timer Ends.
Click Save.
Timer Starts
| Option | What happens |
|---|---|
| Right Now | The timer is visible as soon as you publish it |
| Scheduled to start later | The timer stays hidden until Starts At arrives |
Scheduling the start lets you build a campaign in advance and have it appear on its own.
Validation rules
The app blocks a save that can't work, with a specific message:
| Message | What to fix |
|---|---|
| End date/time must be after the start date/time. | Your Ends At is earlier than Starts At |
| End date/time must be in the future. | Your Ends At has already passed |
| End date/time is invalid. | The end date isn't a valid date |
| Start date/time is invalid. | The start date isn't a valid date |
Good uses
- A flash sale with a real end time
- A product launch or pre-order cutoff
- A holiday shipping deadline
- Black Friday and other dated events
Tip
Set the start an hour or two before the campaign goes live and check your storefront when it fires. That gives you time to fix a typo before customers see it.
What happens after the end date
Once it reaches zero the timer follows your Once Timer Ends setting. Repeat Countdown is not available for this countdown type — a date-based timer has no remaining time to restart from. See Once the timer ends.
