When to offer it
| Turn it on for | Leave it off for |
|---|---|
| Promotional sale bars | Genuine deadlines the customer needs to know about |
| Long-running campaigns | Shipping cutoffs |
| Anything a repeat visitor sees daily | Cart or checkout urgency |
Tip
A sticky bar without a close button can feel like it's trapping the visitor, especially on a small screen where it eats real estate on every page. If the bar is sticky and store-wide, offering a way out is usually the better call.
Test in an incognito window. Once you dismiss the bar yourself, your own browser remembers it and you'll think the timer has broken.
