Discount not applying at checkout
The offer shows and adds to cart, but the customer pays full price.
Quantity break discounts are applied by Shopify's automatic discount function at checkout. The cart may show full price for a moment — that's normal. What matters is the checkout total.
1. Check the checkout total, not the cart
Add a discounted tier to the cart and continue to checkout. If the discount line appears there, everything is working as designed.
2. Is another automatic discount taking over?
Go to Shopify admin → Discounts.
Look for other automatic discounts that apply to the same products.
Pause the conflicting one and retest.
Two automatic discounts competing for the same line item is the most common cause.
3. Check your discount combinations
In Shopify, each discount has combination settings that decide what it can stack with. If the bundle discount is excluded from combining with an active order or shipping discount, it will be dropped. Review those settings on the conflicting discount.
4. Check for a name clash
If the bundle's discount name matches an existing discount code or automatic discount, rename one of them and retest.
5. Multi-currency stores
If you sell in several currencies, confirm the currency rate is set correctly in Settings → Markets. A wrong rate makes the discounted total look wrong even when the discount applied.
6. Free gift charged instead of free
The gift's variant must be in stock and purchasable. If it's out of stock, it either won't add or won't discount. See Free gifts.
Test with a real order
Draft orders and previews don't run the discount function the same way. Place a small live test order — you can refund it — to confirm end to end.
