Upsells
Offer a discounted add-on product alongside a tier.
An upsell is an extra product offered next to a tier at a discount. Unlike a free gift, the customer pays for it — and chooses whether to take it.
Add an upsell
Open your bundle and go to the Offers tab.
On the tier you want, find the Add ons row and click Add Upsell. The number in brackets shows how many upsells that tier already has, and an Upsell #1 card opens under the tier.
Click Select a product and choose the add-on.
Set the quantity in the number box beside the product.
Pick a Discount Type. A new upsell starts on Discounted % (e.g. 25% off) at 20. Choose No Discount to offer the product at full price.
Set Discount per item — the discount applied to the upsell product. This field only appears once you've chosen a discount type other than No Discount.
Fill in Text — for example Add a refill for 30% off. A new upsell starts with + Add at 20% discount.
Click Save.
To take an upsell off a tier, click Remove Upsell in its card.
What the discount type means
| Discount Type | What Discount per item means |
|---|---|
| No Discount | Nothing. The customer pays full price. |
| Discounted % (e.g. 25% off) | Percent off each unit. |
| Amount Off (e.g. $10 off) | Amount off each unit, in your store currency. |
| Fixed Price (e.g. $29) | The price for the whole upsell quantity, in your store currency. |
Test a Fixed Price upsell
Checkout applies the fixed price, but the price shown on the upsell row can still read as the regular price. If you use Fixed Price, place a test order to confirm what the customer will pay.
Options on the upsell
| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
| Image | Click Add Image (or Edit/Change Image) to show the product's image, upload your own, or show no image, and to set its size and corner radius. |
| Selected by default | Pre-ticks the upsell so it's included unless the customer opts out. On for a new upsell. |
| Visible only when bar is selected | Hides the upsell until the customer selects that tier. On for a new upsell. |
Both checkboxes are upsell-only — free gifts don't have them.
Two checkboxes share this name
The tier itself also has a Selected by default checkbox, which pre-selects that tier. The one on the upsell card pre-ticks the upsell. Same label, different scope — check which card you're on.
What customers see
The upsell appears as a row inside the tier: a tick box, your text, the discounted price and the regular price crossed out. If the upsell product has options such as size or color, the customer picks the variant on the row.
A ticked upsell is added to the cart together with the tier. It's only discounted while that tier's main product is still in the cart, and only for the quantity you set.
Style it on the Design tab: the Upsell group in Colors, and Upsell under Gift Options in Typography. The text can be translated on the Translations page.
Free gift vs. upsell
| Free gift | Upsell | |
|---|---|---|
| Customer pays | No | Yes, at a discount |
| Added automatically | Yes | Only if selected |
| Best for | Rewarding a bigger tier | Raising order value with a matching product |
Pick the right product
Upsells convert when the product obviously belongs with what's in the cart — a refill, a case, a matching accessory. An unrelated product just adds noise to the block.
Keep it to one
One upsell per tier reads clean. Two or more turns your product page into a list and hurts the main offer.
