App language
Choose the language of the app's own screens in your Shopify admin. This is not the language your shoppers see.
App language sets the language of the app's own screens — the app menu, Home, the bundle editor, Analytics and the rest — that you and your staff use in your Shopify admin. It doesn't change anything your shoppers see on your storefront. For that, use the Translations page.
| App language | Translations | |
|---|---|---|
| Changes | The app's screens in your Shopify admin | The text of your offers on your storefront |
| Read by | You and your staff | Your shoppers |
| Where | Settings in the app menu | Translations in the app menu |
| Saved for | Your whole store | Each bundle, in each language |
| Languages | The 20 listed below | The languages your store has published in Shopify |
Change the app language
In the app menu, click Settings. This is the app's own Settings page — not the Bundle Settings tab of a bundle, and not Shopify's Settings.
In the App language card, open the Language list and choose a language. The language the app is using now is already selected.
Click Save in the save bar that appears. A banner (Settings saved. in English) confirms it, and the app switches to the new language straight away. You don't need to reload.
The list shows each language's name in English:
English, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian (Bokmål), Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Portuguese (Portugal), Spanish, Swedish, Thai, Turkish, Chinese (Simplified) and Chinese (Traditional).
How the app picks its language
- The language saved on this page, if anyone on your store has saved one.
- Otherwise, the language of your Shopify admin. Shopify tells the app which language the person using it has chosen. If the app doesn't have that language, it tries the browser's language.
- Otherwise, English.
The saved language belongs to your store, not to a person. Once it is saved, everyone who opens the app sees it, whatever their own Shopify admin language is. Until one is saved, two staff members with different Shopify admin languages can see the app in different languages.
One Save for the whole Settings page
The page has a single Save. Saving a discount setting there also saves the language shown in the Language list. If you never picked one, that is the language the app had detected for you, and from then on it is used for everyone. To keep the app in one language whatever the Shopify admin language, choose it here and save.
What changes, and what doesn't
The app switches: the app menu, page titles, labels, buttons and messages, plus the built-in text of tables and other controls.
The app doesn't change:
- Your storefront. Shoppers keep seeing your offers as written. Translate them on the Translations page.
- Text you wrote. Bundle names, block titles, offer titles and the like stay exactly as you typed them.
- Shopify's own screens. They follow your Shopify account's language, not this setting.
A few places stay in English in every language: the Plans page, the offer cards on the Offers tab (including their gift, upsell and highlight fields), a few Bundle Builder labels, and the row labels on the Translations page.
Other settings on this page
The Settings page also has a Discounts card with Turn off discount combinations and, for Shopify Plus stores, Allow multiple product discounts on the same product. They have nothing to do with language. If a bundle discount isn't applying at checkout, see Discount not applying at checkout.
If it isn't working
| What you see | What to check |
|---|---|
| The language you want isn't in the list | The app has the 20 languages above. Pick the closest one. |
| The app didn't change after you saved | Look for the confirmation banner at the top of the page. If it isn't there, click Save in the save bar again. |
| Part of a screen is still in English | Some text is English-only (see above). It isn't affected by this setting. |
| Staff members see different languages | Nobody has saved a language yet. Choose one on this page and save. |
| Your shoppers still see the old wording | That is the Translations page, not this one. |
