Sold out tiers

Mark a tier as unavailable so customers can't select it.

Mark a tier as sold out

Open the Offers tab and find the tier.

Switch Show as Sold out on. You'll find it below the add-ons buttons.

A Sold out text field appears. Keep the default Sold out or write your own.

Click Save.

The tier stays visible but can't be selected.

This is a manual switch, not an inventory check

Quantity break tiers do not read your Shopify stock levels. A tier only shows as sold out when you tick this box yourself — if a product runs out, the tier keeps selling until you mark it.

If you need stock-aware behavior, rely on Shopify's own out-of-stock handling on the product page, or turn the tier off yourself when inventory runs down.

What happens when a tier is marked

SituationWhat customers see
A tier is marked sold outIt shows your sold-out text and can't be selected.
The currently selected tier is marked sold outThe customer is moved to the next available tier automatically.
Every tier is marked sold outNo tier is selected. See the warning below.

Don't mark every tier sold out

With every tier marked, no tier ends up selected — and the add-to-cart button is not blocked in that state. A customer can still click it. If you want to stop selling entirely, unpublish the bundle or use Shopify's own inventory settings instead.

Why you'd use it

  • To retire a tier without deleting it and losing the setup.
  • To create scarcity around a limited run.
  • To hold a tier back until a restock lands.

Style the sold-out text

Colors and font live on the Design tab, under the Sold out text groups in Colors and Typography.

Sold out text not showing?

Check two things: Show as Sold out is on for that tier, and the Sold out text field isn't empty.
