"Error adding section to theme"
What to do when the install fails.
Likely causes
- The theme is locked or open in another editor session.
- The app does not have permission to write to your theme files.
- A temporary connection problem between the app and Shopify.
Fix it step by step
Close any other tab that has the theme editor open.
Wait a few seconds and click Add To Theme again.
If you did not pick a theme, you will see Please select a theme first — choose one under Choose Theme and retry.
Try a different theme to see whether the problem is theme-specific.
If the window offers manual installation instead, follow Install a section manually.
